Friday Quick Takes (vol. 20)

I have a lot of links building up, so I think it’s time for another quick takes.

one. Have you checked out Blake Lively’s new lifestyle site, Preserve? I was anxiously awaiting it’s arrival after reading her recent interview with Vogue. I’m looking forward to the content to come, I just hope they change the formatting of the site, I find it a little hard to read. What do you think?

two. I have my eye on these sandals and am waiting for them to go on sale! I think they’ll be really versatile. I imagine wearing them with a brightly colored dress to a spring or summer wedding, or during the fall with skinny jeans for a date night. They also happen to be super comfortable, a perfect mama shoe for wearing while chasing a toddler.

three. I have a HUGE, like, really huge crush on a new HGTV star. Her name is Joanna Gaines and I discovered her show Fixer Upper while flipping through the channels one morning. Oh man, where do I even begin? She’s half-Korean, so pretty, lives in the country (!!!!), has 4 young kids (!!!!), has a great personality, has amazing style… My husband has been very amused by my crush, who I talk about all the time now. I’ve been getting design tips from her blog and also found her on Pinterest. The blog especially has been super helpful for thinking about how I want to design our home, she gives really useful tips and ideas. She’s also really great about thrifting and re-purposing, which is good if you’re trying to do things on a budget.

four. When I think of summer dessert, I think of ice cream and strawberry shortcake. I followed this recipe for the latter last weekend and it was so good. You should make it too.

five. I survived a day in San Francisco with the kids, sans husband! I feel like I’ve gotten more adventurous with the kids this summer. We went camping for the first time, went to our first Giants game… and now a city adventure. We explored the zoo in the morning with family and then got to visit my friend Eliana’s new place, a very overtired Caleb took a much needed nap in a pack n’ play in her room. It was such a fun day, with minimal meltdowns.

six. Eliana made us this for dinner, it was AMAZING.

seven. And lastly, I’ve already had a fall garden on my mind. Our summer garden was pretty much a failure so I’m determined to make things right! I have plans for copious amounts of snap peas, spinach, and lettuce. Lucky for us though, we’ve had neighbors and a very generous co-worker sharing large amounts of tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, and oranges with us, so we haven’t been missing a summer harvest too much. I’m very grateful and have been reflecting on how our family always has more than enough.

Have a good weekend! For more Quick Takes, visit Conversion Diary!
