Happy Friday everyone!

As I write this, I’m completely stuffed. Pat and I had a date-night tonight, and I was craving Korean food. We devoured bibimbap, kimchi pancakes, and seafood tofu soup. I want to go back tomorrow.

Other recent pregnancy cravings? I can’t get enough of cheese, especially cheese melted on bread. So good! And burgers with dill pickles sound pretty awesome. It shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m right on track with my pregnancy weight gain.

Alright, just one more about pregnancy. I’ve decided that one of my favorite things about having a baby bump is that post-meals, I don’t have to worry about my belly bursting a little at the waistline. These days, I can just let it bulge out and no one knows if it’s my food baby or real baby! This was especially true when I was just starting to show. Now, I just plain look pregnant. I think it might be time to purchase some maternity pants.

I can’t believe it’s really going to happen. One of my wildest dreams is coming true. We are going to have an avocado tree in our backyard!!!!

Our 2 hour meeting with a garden consultant, Steve, was absolutely amazing. I’m excited to share more about all our new garden happenings. But until then, the absolute best part of the visit was Steve telling us that our big Eucalyptus tree in our backyard was ruining our citrus plants and should be taken out. Apparently, they’re like weeds in the tree world.

My first question to him was, can we plant an avocado tree there? Yes, yes we can. And yes we will, pronto. The Eucalyptus tree is set to come down in the next week. I can barely contain my excitement.

Have you ever seen bright green cauliflower before? Well, we just grew 6 beautiful heads of it. I still can’t believe it came out of our garden. My meat-loving husband is all of a sudden really into vegetables now that we’re growing them ourselves. I’m a very happy woman.

Lately, I’ve been listening to this and this on repeat.

Two nights ago, Pat found our I’m a Big Sister book that I thought Gianna had hidden forever. Step 2 of our efforts to prepare Gianna for new baby has been getting her a baby boy doll for her to take care of and play with. I was surprised by a few things. First, even in a city that’s pretty diverse, it’s hard to find dolls that aren’t blonde haired and blue eyed, and second, most baby dolls are super creepy looking. I finally ordered this one and like it a lot.

Gianna cuddles with little baby, before promptly discarding him on the ground. We’ll need to work on that.

This cinnamon sugar pull-apart bread looks so, so good. I want to make it ASAP.

I love reading your blog, Sarah!

  3. Beautiful cauliflower! I just roasted up a bunch of cauliflower and broccoli yesterday – it’s so good roasted with a bit of oil and salt and pepper!

We’ve been roasting vegetables like crazy over here! We recently did the cauliflower with butternut squash and red onion. I’ve never tried broccoli, but I will now!

I LOVE that cinnamon bread…I’ve made it a half dozen times and it is always delicious. So are cauliflower and avocados though. Can’t wait for your new tree!!! Steve the garden consultant is a genius!!

Yay! I’m actually a little intimidated by the bread, I’m so glad to hear that you’ve made it. And, get ready for me to hand off massive amounts of avocado to you. Well, it might be 10 years from now until the tree is big enough. But still, get ready!

I’m so glad you like it! It all still feels like a new world to me, but I’m enjoying it.
